As Spring is here and you start sorting things out in your sheds and greenhouses you may find an Asian hornet queen that has hibernated through the winter. This is exactly what happened to a gardener near Ash (March 11 2024) who found a queen in her flower pots in her potting shed. Please be on the lookout for this invasive and destructive pest. If you see something that you think is one please get a picture of it. If you can trap it under a jar that would be great. Queens are not aggressive and may be quite inactive but they do have a sting. If you are unsure you can send a picture via email to ThanetBKA@gmail.com or report it on the "Asian Hornet Watch" App available through Apple or Android Play Store. Thank you for your help.
