Meet the Fairfield Honey Team

It all started in 2018 when Shayne bought Gary an 'Introduction to beekeeping' course as a birthday gift. Gary came home after the course in April completely hooked and in June we got our first colony of bees. We soon discovered that one colony wasn't enough - we wanted to be able to do our hobby for more than an hour a week and we were fast seeing how addictive beekeeping can be! Over the years we have increased our colony numbers and now have several sites in the Thanet area.  

Fairfield Honey is run by husband and wife team Gary and Shayne Luckhurst.  We are passionate hobby beekeepers and we care deeply about the health and welfare of our bees. We only inspect when necessary to keep disruption to the colonies to a minimum.  We only ever take the surplus honey always ensuring there is plenty left behind for the bees to use.  We want to ensure we have happy bees and our honey is of the highest quality.

In July Gary entered our honey and wax products into the Royal Welsh Show and won several first prizes including Best Commercial Honey.  He has also entered our honey and wax products in the National Honey Show and the Kent Show at Detling as well as our local shows over the past few years consistently winning many awards.

Owing to his success at a National level (and International level - Wales!), Gary judged the honey and wax at our local shows this year at Minster and Acol.
